Nutan has studied Sociology and Journalism. Has trained at National Childbirth Trust (NCT), London and at Breastfeeding Promotion Network India (BPNI).

She has authored “Pregnancy The Complete Childbirth Book” which is a national bestseller and has been translated into Hindi and Gujarati. Her other 3 books are, “Smart Parenting”, “Questions and Answers on Pregnancy” and “Womb to Thrive”, which is an international bestseller.

After she birthed her children effortlessly and joyfully, she started teaching classes for parents to-be in 1978. Everything she practices has originated from her own personal experience. This includes Complimentary Systems of healing.

She helps the couple to understand the birth journey, to have a comfortable pre and post natal period, successful breastfeeding, and communication with each other, caregivers and with baby. She also offers a teachers training course for women to teach such classes.

Her speaking engagements and TV appearances include CME at Fortis Le Femme Hospital, Delhi; FOGSI Meeting, Faridabad; Rotary Clubs, Delhi; Fernandez Hospital, Hyderabad; Doordarshan TV; Zee TV; Star TV; NDTV; and paper presentations at the Asia Pacific Midwifery Conference, Birthing The New Humanity (BTNH) Summit and State University of New York Conference.

Her expertise has been shared in many articles, speaking engagements, interviews and she has inspired professionals to become agents of change in their communities.

Her classes have been attended by housewives, physiotherapists, judges, lawyers, models, politicians.

LONG BIO

Nutan Pandit is a pioneering natural childbirth expert in India. She started teaching childbirth preparation in 1978, after experiencing two easy normal deliveries herself, with the use of Lamaze breathing. She is a lactation consultant and trainer certified by the Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India with courses in ilactation under her belt.

Since 1981 she has frequently visited and done workshops with the National Childbirth Trust, London. In 1981 she also visited Dr. Michel Odent’s unit in France, where immersion of a woman in labour, in water, was just beginning to be practiced.

In the 1990s, she worked with an NGO called “Matrika” on a project on dais (Traditional Birth attendants or TBAs) funded by UNFPA.

As part of her learning journey, Nutan learnt Acupressure, Colour Therapy, Magnetotherapy and Meditation from Indian Institute of Drugless Therapies. She has also learnt the Reiki system of natural healing, Pranic Healing, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Homeopathy and Bach Flower Remedies

She has done the Better Birth 360 Instructor’s Program to teach Acupressure Comfort Measures to birth partners or their support person on how to quickly minimize their wife or partner’s pregnancy-related concerns, and also show them how to promote a natural, shorter, more comfortable, and positive birth experience while enhancing post-partum recovery.

Apart from authoring several books, she has taught childbirth in Delhi at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Sama Nursing home, Dr Usha Kothari’s Clinic, Mayfair Clinic, and at Fortis La Femme. Further, she also has taught at The Cradle in Gurugram, Haryana.

Over the years she has presented many important papers related to the field of childbirth. In 1995, she presented a paper titled “Natural Birthing” at the 49^th Congress of the International Homeopathic Medical League at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. In the year 2009, she presented a research paper at IX ICM Asia-Pacific Midwives’ Conference at Hyderabad, India. The Paper was titled, “A Study to Assess the Rampant Use of Induction of Labour & its Effect on the Experience of Birth by the Mother”. It was based on data obtained at her Natural Childbirth Centre. And in 2004, she spoke on Revitalising Midwifery and on Reducing Maternal Mortality through Midwifery at RAK College of Nursing and at Rufaida College of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard at New Delhi.

She runs a teacher’s training program through which she has trained numerous teachers of natural childbirth at her Natural Childbirth Centre.  Nutan has trained more than 4000 mothers-to-be in the natural childbirth method.

Nutan has been featured across Star, Zee, NDTV and DD News channels; she has many articles to her credit in the print media. At the moment, she teaches, from home, The Nutan Pandit Lamaze Program^® for Childbirth, for expectant couples.
