It was exactly 15 years ago that I was with her, her family and a traditional birth attendant (Dai); as she birthed her baby at home.

Professor Lesley Page, President of the Royal College of Midwives and the receiver of the CBE from the Queen of England.

In her presentation she shared a very interesting fact. There is a reduction of 24% of the pre_term birth rate ( premature birth rate) where midwifery care is available.

Usha Ukande and her team from Choithram College of Nursing Indore where they run a Natural Birthing Centre. Usha shared that when mothers are allowed to move about in labour and do other things they have been taught, they don’t ask for pain killers
